Whenever I'm in its surroundings I'm trying to take a nice picture of this tree. So I've got quite a collection of all different times of the year. They have very different charism. I exceptionally love this picture because of it\s simplicity.
The weather situation on top of Hoher Kasten, a famous mountain in the Swiss Alpstein, was exceptional on that morning between two days of rather bad weather. The view was often blocked by the fog but inbetween there were nice opportunities for pictures, for example this view through the fog that allows to see lower lying rocks.
On a workshop with Erez Marom und Iurie Belegurschi on Iceland I visited glacier lake Jökulsárlón in the south west of the island. The floating icebergs that change their positions again and again because of the forces of the waves provice an ever changing scene.
It's a wonder that this ice cave was ever discovered as it is located far from the next street in a glacier landscape in Iceland. I was even more happy when visiting this place because it was perfect weather and the sun was shining into the cave's entrance. By that the ice structures became very strong and the colors - I don't find words for them.
It seems as if this ice column in an ice cave in Iceland were supporting the glacier laying above. Actually that is not the case. Anyway this column is a quite interesting feature, probably formed by effects similar to the ones that form stalactites and stalagmites in ordinary caves - continuing freezing of drops.
On a workshop with Erez Marom und Iurie Belegurschi on Iceland I visited the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. There was not only a glacier cave but also lots of details in the ice that allowed for abstract photography.
Probably I take photos in black and white far too rarely. Here I tried it once again, because I had the feeling that the ice packs would stand out more intensively. The photo is already some years old, it is from my trip to Iceland.
It was incredibly freezing that night at Creux du Van! After a session in the gorge of Areuse the sky finally upened up. So we packed our snow shoes and went to Creux du Van for some great pictures in the shine of the full moon. And it was lik a jackpot: After nice pictures in daylight just minutes after sunset the full moon rose above the opposite mountain ridge. Our fingers almost freezing it didn't take long and the lenses and filters were icy. Still, there was just enough time to take some beautiful pictures before heading back.
